School Bus Accident at Dharan-13 Zero Point Leaves Five Dead on the Spot

Five people died on the spot and 12 others were injured in a school bus accident that occurred on Sunday at Zero Point in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City–13.

According to police, the accident took place when a school bus bearing registration number Ko 1 Kha 7119, traveling from Bhedetar to Dharan, crashed into a pharmacy located near Zero Point.

Police said that 31-year-old school operator Dhairya Kumar Yadav of Mahottari-8, Gaidabidpur, and 18-month-old Riyav Kumar Mandal of Janakpur died at the scene. The identities of the other three deceased had not yet been confirmed.A total of 12 people, including the driver, were injured in the accident. The injured included 43-year-old Yasoda Shrestha of Dharan-13, 23-year-old Laxmi Mandal of Janakpur, 18-year-old Raja Babu, 24-year-old Rohit Mandal, 40-year-old Manita Devi Mandal, 38-year-old Jitendra Mandal, 40-year-old Sunena Devi Mandal, 18-year-old Rohan Mandal, 25-year-old Rita Mandal, and 25-year-old bus driver Mohammad Gulal. The name of one injured person had not been disclosed.Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhishan Babu Rai said that all the injured were undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.Police reported that the bus damaged a pharmacy named New Shaba Medical at Zero Point, while a scooter parked nearby was completely destroyed. Further investigation into the incident was ongoing.
